The good news is…great love for God & neighbor

Rev. Tania, preaching Luke 7:36-50 Discussion Questions “We carry with us this extravagant, reckless truth: we are loved by God beyond our understanding.” (Pastor Tania says this a few times in the sermon.) What’s one ordinary thing that reminds you that you are loved—like a favorite song, a pet, or a peaceful moment outside? “God loves us more than we can imagine.” Pastor Tania also says, “Our brains might tell us this, but our being knows it.” Sometimes we feel truths in our bodies or hearts, not just in our heads. Can you share a time when you felt something deeply—even if it didn’t make sense at first? “Sometimes we think what we have to offer is not worthy.” (Chloe, the unnamed woman, represents this in the sermon.) Who do you notice—at work, at school, or in your community—who is being told, explicitly or implicitly, that they are not enough? Who are the “Chloes” of our day? “Even our unspoken judgmental thoughts do matter to God.” (Simon’s perspective in the sermon.) Have you ever judged someone quickly—maybe in traffic, at work, or online? What helped you notice it, or how might you respond differently next time? “Where your sentence ends is where God’s extravagant, reckless love starts.” What sentences—about yourself or others—might need to be rewritten with that statement at the end? How does it change the way you see the situation?
